The BASKIN ACADEMY is developed by the ASSOCIAZIONE BASKIN Onlus (Italian Baskin Association) in partnership with ENSIn (Italian Organization of Inclusive Sports) and with other European partners in charge of developing Baskin in the other European countries.
The ASSOCIAZIONE BASKIN Onlus, based in Cremona (Northern Italy), was registered in 2006 within the Regional General Register of Volunteers in the Provincial section of Cremona (provision No 239 of 20/12/2006: No 101).
_ President: Antonio Bodini (founder)
_ Vice-president: Fausto Cappellini (founder)
_ Secretary: Laura Carini

From its foundation, the ASSOCIAZIONE BASKIN intends to pursue the following aims:
_ Spread a culture of sport oriented to inclusion, with special focus on integration between people with and without disabilities;
_ Activate sports initiatives that allow a shared practice between people with and without disabilities, paying particular attention to relational aspects and psychomotor dynamics;
_ Promote the usability and accessibility of sport by promoting the removal of all kinds of barriers;
_ Promote public initiatives such as: meetings, conferences, events, demonstrations, audiovisual production, books and popular material;
_ Spread the Baskin by creating sports courses, tournaments and similar initiatives.
Some highlights of Baskin’s development, such as the awards received by the Association for the innovative value of the Baskin proposal:
_ On December 12, 2007, the Municipality of Cremona (Resolution No. 301) appointed Cremona as City of Baskin.
_ In February 2011, Baskin received in Barcelona the 1st prize from the Design For All Foundation as an international innovation for its identity of “sport designed for all”.
_ In 2011, the Don Sturzo Institute included Baskin in the Generativity Archives and in the Conference on “Social Innovation Management” organized with the Adènauer Foundation: Baskin was presented as the Italian case to be compared with the German counterpart.
_ In 2014, the Associazione Baskin has been recognized as a Well-deserved Association by the Italian Paralympic Committee.
_ In 2017, the Associazione Baskin signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and University and Research (protocol 0000862.02.05-2017) in which the two parties are committed to “promote BASKIN as an example and model of INCLUSIVE SPORT in every order and grade of school”.
_ In 2019, the Associazione Baskin gives birth to the National Body of Inclusive Sports (see below).
The Association splitted itself in 2 independent bodies in 2019:
_ Associazione Baskin Onlus, which keeps the main cultural mission of the original Association focused on the identity of Baskin;
_ ENSIn (National Body of Inclusive Sports), which is an Italian multi-sport federation that has the mission to develop not only the practice of Baskin but also that of any other sport designed for all.
In both cases, the organizations are structured in Territorial Sections or Local Committees which are coordinated in Italy by a Central Committee based in Cremona. Outside Italy, there also other local branches of Baskin movement engaging in the development of Baskin practice at a territorial or national level: France, Greece, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany…
The main activities related to the development of Baskin are three:
_ organization of championships and tournaments (about 120 teams in 2019 – 2020 in Italy) under the responsibility of ENSIn;
_ promotion of Baskin at school through trainings for teachers, local projects, courses & workshops in many schools (over 15.000 children and youngsters in 2019 – 2020 in Italy);
_ promotion of the culture of inclusion in the society, so that more and more people, young people with and without disabilities can discover the richness of the other.
The pedagogical interest of baskin has given rise to in-depth studies at various universities including: the University of Milan Bicocca (Italy), the University of Lyon (France), the University of Barcelona (Spain), the Catholic University of Freiburg (Germany).
